# Screenshot Protection

Screenshot protection helps stop viewers from copying sensitive documents by
blocking and deterring screenshots and screen recording while a document or data
room is open. It works in real time during viewing and logs capture attempts, so
you both discourage leaks and get a record when someone tries.

## What it does

- **Blocks the main screenshot commands** and disrupts screen capture while viewing.
- **Deters screen recording** of protected content.
- **Detects and logs capture attempts** in real time for security tracking.
- Applies to both **documents** and **data room** links.
- Keeps documents readable while protected — a usability/security balance.

## Honest limitation

Screenshot protection does **not** work in 100% of cases. It blocks the main
screenshot actions, but on some mobile browsers screenshots cannot be fully
blocked. Papermark recommends combining it with other controls for real
protection.
