How do link presets work in Papermark?

Link presets let you define a reusable set of permissions—downloads, notifications, watermarks, expirations, and more—and apply them to new links with a single click. They’re especially handy for larger teams that need consistent security rules.

Link presets are available on the Business and Data Rooms Plus plans.

Step 1: Log into Papermark

1. Visit Papermark.
2. Enter your credentials to access your dashboard.

Step 2: Open link presets in settings

1. Click Settings in the left sidebar.
2. Choose Link presets from the tabs across the top.

Step 3: Create a new preset

1. Click New preset.
2. Give the preset a name—for example, "Investor link" or "Internal only".

Step 4: Configure preset options

1. Configure the options you want:
   • Download toggle
   • Password protection
   • Watermark settings
   • Email notifications
   • Expiration date
2. Click Create preset to create your preset.

Step 5: Apply a preset to a new link

1. Open a document or data room.
2. Click Create link.
3. In the link drawer, open the Preset dropdown and select your saved preset. All settings populate instantly.
4. Adjust anything else if needed and click Save.

Step 6: Edit or delete presets

1. Go to Settings → Presets.
2. To edit: Click on your preset to modify its settings directly.
3. To delete: Click the Delete button on the right of the preset.
4. Changes will affect links you create going forward; existing links keep their original settings.

Advanced tips

• Default preset: Mark one preset as Default so every new link starts with those settings automatically.
• Team consistency: Share the same preset across your team to enforce standardized security.
• Versioning: If your policy changes, create a new preset rather than editing the old one so you have a clear history.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Do changes to a preset update existing links?

No. Preset edits only apply to links created after the change.

Q: Can I have different presets for documents and data rooms?

Yes. Presets are global, but you can create as many as you need and choose the appropriate one when creating each link.

Q: Can Free or Pro plans use presets?

Presets are unlocked on the Business plan and above. Free and Pro users can still configure each link manually.
