How PayTabs acquired Amazon Payment Services MENA in a $100M+ deal using Papermark
PayTabs is a Saudi-founded payments infrastructure company. Founded in 2014 by Abdulaziz Al Jouf and based in Riyadh, it gives merchants across the Middle East and North Africa payment processing, transaction switching and payouts on a single platform.

In September 2026, PayTabs Group agreed to acquire the MENA payments business of Amazon Payment Services in a deal valued at more than $100 million. Amazon Payment Services started life as PayFort in Dubai in 2013, became part of Souq.com, which Amazon bought in 2017, and was renamed Amazon Payment Services in 2020.
- $100M+ deal value
- Amazon Payment Services' MENA business acquired
- SAR 150bn+ expected annual processing volume for the combined business
- The largest payments infrastructure provider in MENA once the deal completes
- The deal team ran the M&A process in a Papermark data room

"We used Papermark extensively to close a $100M acquisition. It's a much better data room than the one we used before." - Dakshaya Singh, Manager, M&A & Strategy, PayTabs
A deal of this size runs on documents
Buying a regional payments business from Amazon means working through a large volume of sensitive material: financials, merchant and partner contracts, licences across several jurisdictions, technology and security documentation, and the legal and HR files that come with any carve-out.
That material moves between the deal team, legal and financial advisors, and the other side of the table. For PayTabs, the data room had to be:
- Secure - documents that would be valuable to competitors and regulators alike
- Organised - hundreds of files that several teams need to find quickly
- Controlled - not everyone on every side needs to see everything
- Visible - the deal team needs to know what has actually been read
Why PayTabs used Papermark
PayTabs had run deals on another data room before. For this acquisition, the M&A team worked in Papermark, a secure, modern data room, and found it a much better fit for the way they work.
In Papermark, a deal team can:
- Organise the whole deal in one place. Folders and sub-folders for legal, financial, commercial, technical and HR documents, behind a single link.
- Decide who sees what. Permissions per folder and per user, so advisors only see the parts of the deal they work on.
- Protect every page. Dynamic watermarking stamps each viewer's email and a timestamp on the documents they open.
- See what was read. Page-by-page analytics show who opened which document and how long they spent on it, before every call.
